After a two-year hiatus from the gym. I felt out of shape. So, when a friend asked me to join her in a YMCA water fitness class, I took a been-there-done-that “plunge” into a Deep Water Exercise class. The instructor sensed my reluctance and encouraged me to try the class for six weeks. The group camaraderie made the class so fun I was hooked.
After sticking with it three months, I experienced many “aha moments.” I noticed my balance improved. I no longer got dizzy when I stood up quickly. My flexibility also increased. Reaching up over my head was effortless. I boosted my endurance; most YMCA days, I stuck around for a second water fitness class. Even my instructor’s suggestions for eating healthier eating rubbed off on me.
These improvements gave me the confidence to add Barre, Chair Aerobics and Zumba to my routine.
I feel better now than I ever thought I could!
