Six-year old Savannah is finally getting her turn.
All her life, Savannah watched her 3 older sisters at their sport events; this week they cheered her on during her second YMCA of Broome County Youth Basketball game. Savannah ran up and down the West Family gym like a confident athlete. She dribbled, bounce passed, blocked, took shots and even made 2 baskets. She and the other “Knicks” in the orange and blue t-shirts achieved a lot with their team work.
When asked about the YMCA Program, Savannah said “It is really fun and the coach is nice.” She added her favorite thing about basketball is being with her team of 11 players. Her mom, Christy, said it is amazing how far they have come in 3 practices and 2 games. She added that the volunteer coaches and officials do a great job.
When asked what Savannah would say to other kids thinking about the YMCA Youth Basketball Program, she said tell them, “They should play basketball. It’s really fun!”
